Garage Sale Find

I found this dollhouse at a garage sale last week for only $5.  I believe it is The Orchid. I had built one about ten years ago as a VBS prize.  I have a hard time leaving cheap dollhouses behind so I brought it home, planning to give it a little TLC.

I don't care much for the colors so a couple coats of Zinzer should help.

I removed what I could to make painting easier.

Added two coats of Zinzer so far, but plan to do some fixing up before any more painting.  Takes a lot to cover those strong colors!
(No judging my mess. I'm a sloppy painter.)

We had some excitement here Sunday afternoon. This bear swam up to our property and ambled across our front yard, continuing to our neighbor's yard. Well, this neighbor just happened to be sitting outside enjoying the beautiful summer day and was VERY surprised to see Fuzzy Wuzzy not too many feet away from him. He grabbed a towel or shirt and waved it wildly, yelling, "GET OUT OF HERE!!"  This amiable critter, a bit startled himself, was quick to oblige.

Recipe for a Perfect Fourth of July Float

Take one patriotic business...

Add one 40' trailer and  some decorations-- a battle scene reminiscent of the Vietnam War...

   some soldiers...

Old Glory, a Purple Heart Hero of the Vietnam War, Lady Liberty...

Some pretty girls welcoming loved ones home from the war, and a Memorial Wall for those who didn't return (the photos of the soldiers are of the ones who died from Mason county during the war, and the 'plaques' are actual rubbings from the real Memorial Wall for these soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice)…

Add willing helpers to pass out popsicles...

Great job, Jeff and Karen!
